Annual Business Meeting

The annual business meeting will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 next to Trinity Hall. The meeting will begin at 4:00 pm with dinner immediately following. May Pub Night at Sherlock’s

Another Victory for Fionn MacCumhaill

Another victory for Fionn MacCumhaill

Congratulations to the Dallas GAA Fionn MacCumhaill on their victory Saturday, May 5, 2012 over the San Antonio Defenders. The four Texas teams (Dallas Fionn MacCumhaill, San Antonio Defenders, Houston Fenians, Austin Celtic Cowboys) are playing for the 1st Annual Adrienne Hussey Memorial Cup. Congratulations also to the Celtic Cowboys on their win over the Fenians.

The next round of games will be played in San Antonio on June 16th and the finals will be played in Dallas on August 11, 2012.

2012 Texas Rose of Tralee

On Saturday, April 21st, Kelly Gaetano was chosen as the 2012 Texas Rose of Tralee. We congratulate Kelly and the Rose Committee for another very successful selection. Kelly lives in Austin and was the 2011 Austin Rose. The IAS is assisting Kelly’s home organization, the Celtic Cowboys, in a Wine & Roses to be held on May 21, 2012 in Austin. More details are forthcoming. We hope that many IAS members will be able to take the quick trip to Austin to help support Kelly and the Celtic Cowboys in this endeavor. Kelly leaves at the end of May for Regionals to be held in Portlaoise from May 30 – June 3. We wish Kelly the best in Portlaoise and then Tralee.

North Texas Irish Festival 2012

The IAS had a great presence at the North Texas Irish Festival in March. Many members spent countless hours at the booth, selling four baskets for the raffle and bringing in 10 new family or single members. Discussion was lively at times, and all enjoyed the camaraderie. The 32 Irish county flags gave passersby much interest and maybe a desire to search for their roots.

2012 St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The IAS and the Fionn McCumhaill didn’t let the threat of rain stop them from marching in the 2012 Greenville Ave St Patrick’s Day parade.

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who donated their time and effort to creating, walking, decorating, flag-bearing, waving, smiling and cheering!

Congratulations to IAS member Jackie Nelon on being named the 2012 Irish Person of the Year!! The announcement for this year’s IPOY (Irish Person of the Year) was made at the IAS Christmas Party which was recently held on December 2. IAS members wined and dined while celebrating the Holidays with family and friends. The enjoyable evening was organized by Patti Winston and Patricia Dillingham. Kudos to them for putting on the festive evening!

Jackie will be honored at an upcoming brunch held in January. Check back for more information to welcome in 2012 and this year’s IPOY!!

IAS Walks for Alzheimer’s
